Meet The Team

Sophie Crilly

Director & Lead Speech & Language Therapist

I have been practicing as a Speech and Language Therapist since 1995, working in both Australia and the United Kingdom. As a specialist Speech and Language Therapist I have a depth of experience working with children/young people in a variety of different settings including; pre-schools, mainstream primary schools, special schools and higher education colleges.

My specialist skills are in the field of Autism/Neurodiversity, and Special Educational Needs (SEN). I love working within the special school sector, fostering successful & collaborative working relationships with teaching staff & parents/carers; equipping CYP with a way to communicate with others, and to maximise their potential for learning and participation in the school and wider community.

Since setting up our Independent Practice in 2011 I have thoroughly enjoy working with Louise and our small team of highly dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic Independent Speech & Language Therapists that form Bridge Speech Therapy.

Louise Laycock

Director & Lead Speech & Language Therapist

Having trained at Strathclyde University in Glasgow I have been practicing Speech and Language Therapy since 2002, in both the public and independent sectors.  I enjoy working across a variety of settings including pre-schools, mainstream schools, specialist provisions and higher education colleges.  I also thoroughly enjoy working on broader, strategic projects with County Councils and independent charities/groups.

I am passionate about early identification and intervention to support children, and their families, in targeting speech, language and communication difficulties. I enjoy working with a range of age groups from pre-school up to young adults, and I am driven by the challenges that come with all of these.  I believe in empowering those that support young people, particularly school staff, to be able to support language and communication development.  I particularly enjoy writing and delivering interactive training sessions and regularly do this for parents, education settings and broader audiences e.g. SENCo clusters, teaching alliances, and conferences.  I challenge myself to disburse information and practical ideas in fun and motivating ways, to support all pupils, develop the understanding of the audience and share best practice.

Since establishing Bridge Speech Therapy in 2011 I have loved working with Sophie, pulling on my previous experience and continuing to develop my skills.  We have built strong relationships with those that commission us and expanded our team with a small group of wonderfully skilled, committed and hard working therapists.
